Welcome to Family History Explorer. My name is Jenny Lesley. I run Family History courses in Derbyshire and offer both individual tuition and research services. I also blog about my own family history research and things that genealogists might find interesting.
My own journey into family history started about 10 years ago when I had a laughing bet with my father that I would never be able to find out much about his family as his surname was so common. And so a rather compulsive hobby began. The idea for Family History Explorer came when a friend asked for help with her family tree and confessed she was really worried about having to sign up to expensive commercial websites. As I talked to more people about this it became clear that she wasn't the only one. Having been involved in adult education for nearly 20 years, I knew I could design courses to set people off on their own fascinating journey into the past.
